Talladega penalty protest

Post by Reef »

I would like to protest all of my penalties received for this race.

Lets start with Illegal pit entrance, Lap 7.
NHRL Rules Page/ Super Speedway Section wrote:Entering Pit Road: After clearing turn 4, drivers can enter pit road directly from the racing surface. When preparing to pit, competitors should drive in the left-most groove through turns 3 and 4; a driver may not suddenly decide to cut across multiple lanes at the last moment! After negotiating the final turn, cars then decelerate onto the large apron area preceding the pit road entrance.
Exactly what I did. No where does it say where the entrance is considered late. I entered pits before the yellow line from the large apron area after turn 4 from the racing surface. No penality.

Now lets move to driving through pit stalls, Lap 7 & 31:
NHRL Rules Page/ Pitting Procedures/ Section 4 wrote:In the majority of cases, a competitor should never have to cut through more than three stalls in order to enter or exit a box. Drivers attempting to gain some unfair advantage by cutting through multiple pit stalls can expect league discipline.
Lap 7, I cut the 4th pit box in the upper right hand corner with 2 tires, lost 2 positions,
caused no incidents or harm to anyone else, no unfair advantage gained, unless you are counting the fact that I took fuel only as the unfair advantage.

Lap 31, same exact scenario except I kept my position and was no threat to the other car. No unfair advantage there either.

Don't see why either of those should have been levied.

The pit stall rules are pretty self-explanatory and completely objective. The rules assume that using up 3 stalls is already pushing it (but legal), so the moment you clip even an inch of a 4th stall a penalty is handed out by default.

The rules have always been flexible with the pit road entrances on these types of courses. Overall, everyone seemed to do a good job on the entrances but many drivers completely fell asleep over the rest of the pitting procedures.

I did reinforce what to do and what not to do on the entrances, so I don't think there should have been much confusion. The rules explain to enter the apron area after clearing turn 4...not to run 2/3 of that mini-straight and then decide to swerve left onto pit road (and right in front of a huge pack). This is the reason I reminded everyone about merging onto the apron in time. DavisV almost hit the back of your truck and created a huge mess because you stayed on the track so long before going onto the apron.

No, in actuallity, Davis didnt even come close to my truck, you did. Presumably due to inattention. Penalities are bogus and you know it. Just because you got snookered doesnt mean you can interpet the rules as you see fit. I followed the rules to the tee per the rules print. I expect them to be reversed.

Show me where it says this please. Reverse this one.

The Rules page doesnt state this at all. It says "if an unfair advantage is gained and multiple stalls are driven through, penalties will be enforced." So when did we start calling "1 inch or whatever you called it", "multiple"? As well as the fact that I didn't gain any positions, actually lost 2.

You need to follow print that you laid down on the site, not interpet them as you see fit.

I expect all to be reversed.

I was just wondering if someone could post the replay for the Talladega race. I would like to take a look at it. Thanks.

I don't think you want someone like this in charge of your secondary review. We must wait until Skoty returns to organize the investigation.

When it comes to these pit penalty's, i just think half of them are total bs. I understand why rules are made, but you have to remember about rules or laws, just because they are rules and laws does not justify that they are worthy. In one state, if you stack your dishes more than 12 plates high, it's illegal. Just because it's a rule or law, doesn't mean it makes sense. All my penalty's here at Talladega was a big sack of poop. Good Luck Reef, I hope they get overturned.
