Qwest vdsl connection (sigh)
Qwest was recently purchased by Century Link and will now be known by that name.I now know why they chose that name. The route my connection will take to reach the NHRL server has changed and it will now take me a "century" to "link" to it! See for yourself..included in this route are 4 peering points.Entirely unbelievable,....they have sucked the last penny out of my pocket they are ever gonna get. Please help me in my efforts to have these bozo's banned from this planet !Ty Speedyexiter.
Ps: Cox Cable "said" they will be coming to rescue me from these heathens.I will believe it when I see it!...grrrrrrrrrrrrr

I use Time Warner Cable Road Runner up here but we have a local phone company with DSL Fairpoint and most people up here have the same feelings you do...
Evil DSL Providers, I hate to say it but I miss Verizon!

Re: Qwest vdsl connection (sigh)
don't get your hopes up too high, speedy. Once your signal gets to wherever the local internet hub is, it's at he mercy of the same internet no matter who your isp is.
Hopefully they can work some kind of 'magic', but I'm just saying, dont' hold your breath. Anyway, that's been your whole problem with the lag. Too long for your packets to get to vermont and back via indonesia (lol), and that makes the game misrepresent where your car is on the track.

Everytime I run a trace the 8th and 9th hops pings range anywhere from 52 up to a 229.One time got a whopping 269 w/50% packet loss at the Denver address only .
Does any one else understand why the Network listed on hops 8,9,10, and 11 are called "Network for 68.86.XX.XXX.I notice NHRL address has same type of name.Comcast must really suck, sorry nhrl,at least in Dallas and Denver.Qwest apparently is not the culprit tho it did take what seemed like a "Century" to link to a QWEST tech that was not in the Phillipines or Bangkok, etc, etc, etc.Or one that spoke some form of english I could understand.Forget about finding one that even remotely knows what sim racing is.LMAO

Should also mention they downgraded us to the 1.5 mbs package and kept charging us the 50 dollars after our term contract. Swapped to the 43 dollar 6mbps pack now, should solve my lag.

Re: Qwest vdsl connection (sigh)
when searching and rating ISP's, a more important consideration than download is upload (at least for online gaming). My DSL is 3Mbps down, but only 384K up. I thought cable may be a better option. They advertise "Speeds up to 6 times faster than DSL". Well, they have a 6Mbps package and I think a 10Mbps package, but guess what. Both those packages have a 384K upload! Needless to say, I stuck with the DSL.
Re: Qwest vdsl connection (sigh)
We were getting the .3 upload aswell, but the next DSL package has .768, which is what we upgraded to.

Re: Qwest vdsl connection (sigh)
Yes, with heat, upload is more important than download. Did you ever host non-dedicated races with heat, that number required above where you select number of players, is referring to upload speed. Most ISP's only advertise the Download speed. I had to actually ask the guy from the cable company what the upload was.
Re: Qwest vdsl connection (sigh)
It doesn't matter, we can't upgrade our service except on the day that our billing cycle ends. And you can't use the upgrade system on a Sunday, which is when our cycle ends.....
What a stupid corporation.
