That's correct, 2020 begins with one of our most prestigious races, the third annual NHRL 24 @ DAYTONA.
The third such event will happen on January 25 at 9:00 PM ET and consist of 24 green-flag laps at Daytona RC in the SCGTS Mod. Drivers may pilot either the GT2 or GT3 class within the mod; we'll commemorate the honorary winner for each group. The event will also have driver-led caution flags, where the leader of the race will become the pace lap leader upon the calling of a caution flag. Competitors are required to connect to our Ventrilo server for the event.
NHRL Signature Events are a continuous, season-less series of special exhibition races conducted at alternative tracks in non-league-series mods. In some cases, the rules, formats, or other particularities may also differ significantly from standard league activities. The possibilities for NHRL Signature Events are truly limitless, so we invite members of the general community to join the discussion on our forum and take an active role in shaping their ever-evolving schedule.

Re: NHRL 24 @ DAYTONA
Just to provide an update on a point that a few of us had discussed...
I tested the GT1 class again, which I had originally done prior to the inaugural NHRL 24 @ DAYTONA, and in short order re-realized the reason why that class won't work too well for our event. The GT1 cars get pretty tough to handle on the oval portion of the course, especially in turns 3 and 4.
So for 2020, we'll stick with the GT2 and GT3 classes like in the past. We might still be able to bring in the GT1 cars in a new SCGTS-based event.

Just a reminder that in 2018, we posted a base setup for the inaugural event. You can get it in the Setups & Strategies forum.

Thanks to all for participating in the 2020 NHRL 24 @ DAYTONA.
We put on a great third edition of the event and fifth overall NHRL Signature Event. You can find the official race results on the following page: http://nascarheatracingleague.com/event ... =2&race=25. The official news summary is also out; well dones to Bandit and Grumpy. Until 2021!

lepage71 wrote:The NHRL 24 is undoubtedly becoming one of the most prestigious events on the community calendar. Like in 2018 and 2019, the 2020 edition would not disappoint. On a clear winter Florida day, most pundits expected lepage71, the two-time defending champion, to claim another overall event title. However, in the days leading up to the race, a game of uncertainty arose over who would fill the GT2 and GT3 car classes. As it turned out, nearly the entire field went with GT2, which led to the fastest contest up front in NHRL 24 history. In the end, Bandit and Grumpy drove to the winners circle, both piloting 911 Porsches to precision in GT2 and GT3 respectively. Similar to 2019, the event featured long green flag runs, except in this case there was not a single caution period. After capturing the pole, leading the opening several laps, and briefly losing the lead on lap 6, the door opened for good when Bandit pitted for fuel, and lepage unwisely went an extra lap and ran out on lap 7. The ensuing gap between them would narrow from 50 to 20 seconds but the die was cast. After a one-year hiatus, KartRacer63 returned to the '24 and finished in 3rd, impressively remaining on the lead lap. In 4th, one lap behind the podium trio, d3efan put up a solid effort in his inaugural appearance. Two laps down, BlackKnight finished 5th for the third consecutive season. In 6th overall, Grumpy was the lone GT3 pilot, yet he was also faster than several GT2 competitors, dispelling any notion his GT3 victory was some kind of ceremonial tap-in for par.
