Hi all. After the end of the Daytona race, a few of us briefly tested out Sonoma 2012. As far as the track goes, Sonoma appears to be a great venue for a CTS event. However, it appears there are some problems with the starting grid, where trucks often don't line up right and are forced into the wall before the green flag even drops. We're investigating solutions for this problem, such as a possible 2-lap pace lap where all drivers will be able to pit, and other remedies. We hope to avoid replacing the track on the schedule, but that is possible, as well.
I'm contacting the developers to see if we can learn more about this issue.
We'll provide an update on this later in the week.

Re: Sonoma 2012
DaveO and I have been communicating at The Mod Squad forum.
Dave and Smoke tested Sonoma 2012 further and provided some helpful information. Basically, the narrowness of the course before the start/finish line makes it difficult to get the starting grid to behave predictably. If the AI path is moved further left, then drivers start clipping the left-side wall, and so on. Our plan, therefore, is to switch Sonoma this week with North Carolina. North Carolina was originally scheduled for January 4. Sonoma will take its place. The swap gives us more time to test Sonoma with a full field of drivers and evaluate the best course of action. Our goal is to still race there.
We've updated the schedule on the website. This weekend, we'll have a 123-lap race at North Carolina.

Re: Sonoma 2012
Should just give an off weekend. Changing tracks less than three days from the event...that just seems like a little short notice.
Just imagine those people who only have time to practice early in the week, compared to later.
