Driver updates
Driver updates
I recently downloaded Uniblue driver scanner. It said i had some drivers out of date but i needed to register the product to fix them. I run other uniblue stuff but didnt want to spend 30 bucks on it. Is there anything you cpu gurus recommend, and is it important? My system seem to run fine, just wondering TIA.

Well I had a very thorough response for you, but I took too long and lost my sign in :lol:
In a nutshell to answer your question directly, you got to ask yourself, do I need to pay for someone to recommend driver updates to me when I can just go to the manufacturer's site and get the latest driver myself. They will probably redirect you to another site for them anyway. Secondly, you could say "if it aint broke, don't fix it." Personally I check with my manufacturers occasionally to see if they have a driver update. I like to keep mine up to date. If you do get into an application you haven't used before, you could run into issues that driver updates have resolved.

Not mention, some hardware drivers have software installed with them that you can use to look for an update, or some manufactureres websites have an 'auto-update' tool. Creative has this and it works very well.
Nvidia has this too, but if you have an nvidia video card, and your stuff works fine, I wouldn't download the newest drivers for that card if nothing your using is having problems with your current driver. Reason I say this is because a few of us have had issues with the latest nvidia drivers and heat on some older cards.

My motherboard chipset and video card are all driven by nvidia. I went to nvidia for kicks and found that my hardware manufacturers were suppling the latest nvidia drivers anyway. That's what you get for top of the line stuff :badgrin: My resolution for video card problems was get a newer one. :badgrin: Incidently, I had the latest nvidia driver for my 9800gtx, and when I put the 260 card in, a scan advised me that I had the newest driver available for it already.
