testing software before race time

Post by Rookiesrock »

Last night at race time we had issues with a few drivers jumping, warping etc. These guys must be feeling pissed, disappointed, frustrated and downright tee'ed off. This happens a few times a year and I ask you to please trust the advice you recieve and feel assured that it is nothing personal. Now let's try and fix the problems.
I'm not the technical guru on these issues but I would suggest testing things throughout the day today for drivers roushfenway, GSXR and smoky. We want you to attend the races, so I'll be glad to help check things out to resolve these issues.
Are all of you using the tracks from the original disk? Let's try NBS today and if the problem is gone then it is the NHRLcup mod. I know smokys sure it is the server but thats not the case when it happens with 3 out of 25. Something isn't compatible with the other 25 pc's. I'm available on and off today till 3pm cst.

i did a complete reinstall today, hopefully it helps.. i had been practicing for 2 weeks,, and just thought it was the server honestly, because smokey and i would go run in dusters fat server with no lag, no warping, no problems every time.. it was great.. so its not that i didnt "test" my setup.. my ping was fine, one thing i noticed was in multiplayer, in the nhrl server, the "preferred line" was screwed up on my game all week, but i didnt pay enough attention. down the back stretch it was showing the preferred line going from the wall, down to the apron, then back up to the wall at the end of the backstretch.. in single player mode , this issue does not exist.. maybe this will lead to some sort of progress as to what my problem was.... my total reinstall today was done using the original disk, the 3 patches from nhrl's resources section.. we'll see, because i was very pissed, and its not a hardware problem either.

it sounds to me like the .trk file was altered in some way. If the preferred line was screwy then something happened to the file. Did you attempt to make the ai cars better by installing a new gcf, or any other alteration? Now here's another question, when u did the install/ reinstall, did you just copy/paste files to the other pc, or did u do a reinstall on both? Do you have your router set up properly? Do you or him use mod launcher? Any and all info you can provide will be helpful.

well, i uninstalled everything, deleted everything besides my setups and tex files.. my internet connection, os, game , tracks were unaltered by me. with the same setup.. i ran cts. if you are asking about transferring from smokeys computer or anything, no, smokey is in florida, im in south carolina.. roush is in ohio.. lol. i dont have any messengers so i didnt accept a transfer over that.. i was using mod launcher yes, and i believe both of them were as well. i just downloaded the nbs mod, ill try and practice with people today, and run tonight if everything is running smoothly. ghost car file option is turned off in the setup portion of the game, and i didnt attempt to add a file to make the ai better.

well, i completely removed all heat files, unistalled all the mods and everything.... then , from the disk i reinstalled the game. downloaded the three patch files from nhrl resource section, installed those... put my setups and tex files that i had saved back into the appropriate places.. and magically it was fine earlier today. with i believe reef's suggestion, i think the problem was my track file, as i had said the preferred line did not match the track somehow, but in the server today it was good... so thanks again to reef, and skoty as well who helped me..

I also noticed that the common theme with you three guys who had problems last night, was that you guys used Mod Launcher.

PLEASE follow the following advice!!!!

Instead of using mod launcher, use the shortcut that came with each of the three mods that the league uses. You can copy these shortcuts from the mod folder if they aren't already on your desktop.

Mod Launcher has been known to cause online warp issues.

I've never used Mod Launcher a lot only for WGTC or another mod if that's not it. The original download came with no shortcut so you have to use mod launcher. I don't agree with it. There really is no sense to run Mod Launcher if you have the original disc. Your opening and running another program when you don't have to. Since we are on the topic of Patches, and Disc's. Whatever happened to the NO CD PATCH?

Petty you dont need mod launcher... Take your scgts shortcut make a copy rename and edit the path. Change it from scgts to wgtc in there...
