Post by Jes Rathbun »

Hey guys I have a dell and I need to reinstall the Operating System I know dell has a slightly different way they do it so you have to use the service tag number. The last time I did it I did it I didnt need the service tag number it seamed to have just wrote another copy. But this time (before CTS) I want to wipe it out right does anyone know how to do this. I know enter the cd and restart but there are some different things you have to do, unlike XP just put in the cd restart and add a code,? please help

I've redone a dell several times, and if they gave you the os disc like they did me, it's not really any different than loading os for first time. Just reformat the hard drive for a complete wipe. It will give you the option during setup. Hope we're talking about the same dell setup, and hope that helps.

Sorry I don't know vent. Works ok for me, but sometimes when I first log onto it, no one can hear me. But, if I exit, and just click on the volume controls in vent, then I can log back in and people can hear me. Weird huh? I would bet it's a vent thing beyond me. I'd maybe try reloading vent if all else fails. Although that may be a waste of your time. Have you tried running vent in the background of another program to see if it works?
