FYI
Rookies,
To reiterate that if you have NOT been told you are in CUP then you must assume your not. Do not show up for Daytona without the nod of an admin. :  :

I'm having this problem, any help?
Re: Official 2008 Numbers and Car Files Thread
This is what your drivers.txt entry should look like:
table Driver
number 851
name nbs reef
chassis Stock
rank 1
race_image 10
ui_image Reef.img
body_style pcar
end
You should have a car file that looks like this:
carxxx.tex
when painting a car, be sure to save it as a 24 bit, uncompressed .tga file, otherwise it will not work
table Driver
number 851
name nbs reef
chassis Stock
rank 1
race_image 10
ui_image Reef.img
body_style pcar
end

Re: Official 2008 Numbers and Car Files Thread
how do I make sure it's uncompressed?
Re: Official 2008 Numbers and Car Files Thread
this is what my table looks like
table Driver
number 1954
chassis nhrlcup
name P McSkip
rank 99
ui_image 00.img
race_image 2
body_style pcar
end
what's wrong?

chassis nhrlcup
name P McSkip
rank 99
ui_image 00.img
race_image 2
body_style pcar
end
what's wrong?
Re: Official 2008 Numbers and Car Files Thread
take the 1 out and try it.
Re: Official 2008 Numbers and Car Files Thread
Also I just deleted the ui_image line.
Re: Official 2008 Numbers and Car Files Thread
the file name is car1954.tex so wouldn't the 1 need to be there?
Re: Official 2008 Numbers and Car Files Thread
I'm not sure if the game reads 4 digits.
Re: Official 2008 Numbers and Car Files Thread
alright, I'll try it again.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Re: Official 2008 Numbers and Car Files Thread
table Driver
number 195
chassis nhrlcup
name P McSkip
rank 99
race_image 2
body_style pcar
end
That's what is now and my car file is now Car195.tex and still nothing.

chassis nhrlcup
name P McSkip
rank 99
race_image 2
body_style pcar
end

Re: Official 2008 Numbers and Car Files Thread
This is what my drivers.txt entry looks like, you might want to try doing it like this:
table Driver
number 381
name Jrfan381
chassis nhrlcup
rank 1
custom no
race_image 381
ui_image car381.tex
body_style pcar
end
table Driver
number 381
name Jrfan381
chassis nhrlcup
rank 1
custom no
race_image 381
ui_image car381.tex
body_style pcar
end
Re: Official 2008 Numbers and Car Files Thread
This is my same car just 1024 res.
And to P McSkip problem make sure your car195.tex file is in the nhrlcup folder.
Also upload your car195.tex file to the forum so we can check and see if our games
can read it.

Re: Official 2008 Numbers and Car Files Thread
Jrfan, your ui_image line is wrong.... not that it really matters, but it's wrong.... What that line is used for is it calls the images you see in the driver selection screen. (the pics of the cars).jrfan381 wrote:This is what my drivers.txt entry looks like, you might want to try doing it like this:

You could delete that line all together if you don't have a ui_image made. If you wanted to make urself one, it needs to be a TGA which you convert to the .img format.
Also, I don't know where that line "custom no" comes from (probably mod launcher), but it's not necessary either, and I'd probably go ahead and delete that.
Also, I believe the proper thing to put for race image is 0, I do know that race image 2 works fine.... Otherwise people won't see the starting grid image..... That's what race image is, it's the image you see on the starting grid, or when switching cars in spectator mode.
Hope that helps you guys...
Re: Official 2008 Numbers and Car Files Thread
ok, I've concluded I'm did something wrong either installing or the driver list itself.
Jrfan made me a car and I copied the drivers table he told me to use and still nothing shows up in the game for that car. What is wrong with it?

Re: Official 2008 Numbers and Car Files Thread
When you are editing the drivers list, are you adding a whole new driver? or simply editing one of the drivers on the list?P McSkip wrote:ok, I've concluded I'm did something wrong either installing or the driver list itself.

i've always just edited one of the guys on the list. usually some sucker nobody like kevin lepage or something.
i do this mainly because i lack those all important computer skills.
if you are adding drivers between the "ends", then how many mcskippy's are on the list? you might be in the wrong mcskippy car.
me being a computer hack, i have come up with a neat trick around this. in the drivers list, i will name my hooters car like this
table Driver
number 107
name Hooters Ford Car
chassis Stock
rank 1
race_image 10
ui_image efgordon.img
body_style pcar
then my LOD team car like this
table Driver
number 777
name LOD Car
chassis Stock
rank 1
race_image 10
ui_image efgordon.img
body_style pcar
then my redskins chevy for offline use
table Driver
number 744
name Redskins Chevy
chassis Stock
rank 1
race_image 10
ui_image efgordon.img
body_style pcar
then my car i am still trying to paint
table Driver
number 757
name Test Car
chassis Stock
rank 1
race_image 10
ui_image efgordon.img
body_style pcar
like i said before, i dont bother with trying to add the drivers in between the "ends" on the drivers list, i just find lame drivers that i dont give a turd about. like Lepage, Kenny Wallace, Mears, or someone else that i never drive.
so when i start my game, it asks me to select Multiplayer or "single race" , then the very next screen is your drivers list.
from that list, which will look something like this (and i cant think of the exact order)
Jeff Gordon
Tony Stewart
Kurt Bush
Hooters Ford
Bobby Labonte
Jimmy Johnson
Dale Jr
LOD Car
Redskins Chevy
Denny Hamlin
Dale Jarrett
Kyle Bush
Robbie Gordon
Test Car
Kasey Kayne
Ryan Newman
etc
etc
etc
etc
etc
the list i think is in alphabetical order, but i really cant remember. i dont have heat on this pc, so i am going off memory
then you pick the "car" you want to drive, not the name. when you select the car, it will give you the right number that goes with that car. if i picked jeff gordon on that list, i would have #24 car, not name jeff gordon, if i select kurt bush, i would have #2 car, and when i select Hooters Ford, it gives me #107 car because thats how it is listed in the drivers list. none of it has anything to do with my name "efgordon" that shows up associated with that car in the standings. the efgordon part gets typed in after you start the game and once you do it once, it should stay there forever.
it is very possible that you have multiple mcskippy's on your drivers list screen when you start the game. you have to pick the right one. or take my advice and give every car you have a different name on the drivers list.
i hope this helps
