You can move the file to your desktop, edit it, then move it back.

Or you can follow this guide (which will solve alot of other heat issues on new windows versions) then edit the file...

Like Duster said, you probably have windows vista or windows 7. Read the guide, even if it means re-installing heat, then do that. You'll save yourself a lot of headaches.

Windows Vista and Windows7 store files differently than older computers did. That's why to use heat on Vista or 7, you have to follow those guiedes.

Good Luck.

Here is the reply sent to your HF support request (you were not logged in so I'm not sure if your going to receive it)...
I can only assume you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7 or even Windows 7 64-bit. If you dont install perfectly step by step you will run into issues. Starting from scratch using this guide...
http://www.heatfinder.net/guides.php?c=nhse2

Or reviewing some of the issues one by on on these two guides...

I will tell you that if you are trying to fix a problem it can be like a needle in a hay stack, it is much easier and less stressfull to delete all heat content (or move it for tracks, records, ect) and start over properly (including using Heat Essentials 2 which was recently released).

Check the Virtual Store Files folder as described in one of the guides.
