New forum format

I dunno if I'm too keen on this new forum format. Can we change it ourselves?

I would agree with Reef. I spent some time trying to figure out how to change it , no luck.

I never really liked those other forum styles, but we provided them in case anyone else didn't like the original "prosilver" theme (which I had been using since we switched the forum from PHPBB2 to PHPBB3). However, the main thing is that the creators of those other styles haven't been updating them for PHPBB3 version updates...so we were holding the forum back from important security changes, which is never a good idea.

The blue style that we used to have on PHPBB2 will be updated for PHPBB3, but I can't control when the developer releases the new version...until then, I've been looking for a decent dark style and this is the best I've found. Most colors and settings can be tweaked, so let us know about any particular problems or dislikes with this format.

I like the quote deal, considering i couldnt figure out how to do it on the old format. I guess it just takes some getting use too. I did however like that you could change the way the page looked on the old one. But if its for security i cant complain.

IMHO, light background, with dark text, and blue is easiest on the eyes.

The official PHPBB forum has a section devoted exclusively to "styles" development and discussion (styles are the forum design). We're not going to require everyone to have the same forum style; if you check the User Control Panel, you'll notice that you can again toggle forum appearance under Board Preferences (the two default styles, prosilver and subsilver, are listed alongside BlackDiamond). Styles are complicated to create, so it's not very helpful to simply say "oh this color on the NHRL Forum stinks"...a style with what features you like must actually exist in order for us to install it. Since everyone has different likes and dislikes, I would encourage looking through this forum section and nominating styles that we'd use on the NHRL Forum. Here is the link:

Various designers are often releasing new styles, so you can continue to check this forum in the future.

Styles are simple to install, so please make some suggestions. Just note that the style has to be created for or updated for the latest PHPBB 3 version. Right now, the latest PHPBB 3 version is PHPBB 3 RC 5. Most topic titles inside this forum contain that information.

The Black Pearl style option has been added to your user cp. Check it out and post feelings. If u see another style on that forum post lepage made, feel free to post it here and he will add it to the user cp for us to vote on. Personally I vote to keep this one (Black Pearl)

Could you guys add something like that milky way style to the user cp also? I can't stand reading light colors on dark backgrounds. It bothers my eyes for some reason. That is easier to read for me. Just my H.O.

EDIT: I just found where to put the board back the way it was a couple weeks ago... That's easier than the black, but i still like the milky way style and would like to see that added.
