only a matter of time

i looked at the results from the Cup race @ Vegas earlier this season. Saw that EFgordon had a good car for that race.... which made sense.... being that EF seems to be the "Flat-Track-Maverick". This race was much better than the Cup event though. I remember that event to be boring..... TommyW had such a large lead in that one.... i felt like i was just running laps by myself. But in this race (Sunday Night) .... the competition was fierce! which made for good racing. I decided that I was not going to just pull in behind someone and draft from the start. Tommy, Rookie, Kyle, EF and Myself swapped positions right away from the start. Rookie got by Tommy and i and pulled out a lead.... asd Tommy Kyle and myself battled for 2nd (With EF gaining on us). It was good racing! after the pit cycles.... EF and I had a battle of our own. from lap 40-48 (on worn tires) EF and I went back and forth..... swapping the lead and running hard. It was fun. EF was the man on long runs. I needed to catch him after the lap 50 pit stop and pull a lead in order to win. But, EF drove flawless, and I made a few wrong decisions in traffic.... which slowed my pace. It was fun....... but I hate comming in 2nd

I almost ran out of gas on that last run. My light came on 1/2 lap earlier every run. Somehow i got an extra puff or two by slowing down to a crawl for the last 1/2 lap. I already knew from practicing a billion times, that i shoulda started sputtering comming off turn 4. I guess lady luck owed me one. That was fun racing hard on old tires, but i kept getting irp dejavu memories of me wearing my tires off the rim. I was literally talking to myself "dont do it, relax, dont wear out the tires", but 2 secs later i would dive down and pass again...lol. i have no will power

This was my first race at vegas withoug booting atleast one pitstop. my last stop was perfect, and when i got back on the track the 22 car was a perfect pace car. Not sure how that happend, but he was running the exact line and pace that i needed. Had he not been there, i might have choked up and messed up.

Its a shame that you got hung in traffic, cause we probably would have put on quite a show.
